Photo Sharman Plesner

Sharman Plesner started playing the violin at the age of four, with her mother Joy Plesner, as her first teacher. A year later concert violinist Fredell Lack became her teacher for the next ten years. A child prodigy, Sharman played often on the Houston Television Network, gave frequent recitals and was, at the age of 12, one of the youngest artists ever to perform as a soloist with the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
Three years later she was accepted into the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music where she studied the violin with Ivan Galamian, David Cerone, and Szymon Goldberg, chamber music with Felix Galimir and Micha Schneider, and within the Curtis Orchestra worked under the direction of many of the world’s greatest conductors. She received her Curtis diploma in 1987. Sharman won a number of competitions in the United States (Ima Hogg, Kingsville, Performers of Connecticut…).
Following concert tours in France, Sharman decided to move to Paris, where she soon became interested in baroque violin repertoire. She participated in master classes with Reinhard Goeble, who immediately engaged her for recordings and a concert tour with Musica Antiqua Köln. Soon after, she became a member of Les Musiciens du Louvre, where she spent 7 years of intensive concert touring and recording.
Today Sharman is an active chamber musician; she plays with numerous baroque ensembles including XVIII-21, Baroques Graffiti, Les Soloists du Palais Royal, La Belle Renaissance, L’Ensemble William Byrd and the classical ensembles Trio Werther and Le Quator Campana. She performs often in recital with piano or harpsichord and has appeared as a soloist in recent years with the Concerto of Barber (Orchestra de Massy, conducted by David Levy), Haydn G Major Concerto (L’Orchestre  du Palais Royal, conducted by Jean-Philippe Sacros), the viola solo part of W.A. Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, with violinist Lisa Kerob (Orchestra Régional de la Réunion.)  She has recorded 3 discs with Trio Werther and has participated in programs for French television such as Mezzo, Musiques au cour and Orpheus in the Underworld.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to have Sharman enrich our Soundscapes with her affable panache, passion and gracious stage presence!
