Sergio Rodriguez has performed solo piano and chamber music concerts in Southern California and throughout Northern New Mexico. He has been orchestra pianist with the Santa Fe Symphony and Santa Fe’s Musica de Camara Orchestra, soloist for the Symphony Club Musicale, and soloist in the Santa Fe Symphony’s Beethoven Sonatathon. He has performed solo and chamber music for the Movable Music Series in Las Vegas, New Mexico, concerts with The Santa Fe Desert Chorale, and at Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos. He has served as pianist for the Aspen-Santa Fe Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Mark Morris Dance Group, the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and also for the Stadttheater Bern Ballet in Bern, Switzerland. He has given numerous solo piano recitals at the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe, and has served as host-commentator for the Santa Fe concert series “20th Century Unlimited.” In 1997 he was guest recitalist/lecturer at the New Mexico State Convention of the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico, giving a recital of the piano music of Cuba. Sergio was born in Havana, Cuba and raised in Miami, Florida since age five. He began piano and music theory studies with his great-aunt and later obtained degrees in piano performance from Florida State University and UCLA, with additional studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Aspen Music School in Colorado. Currently he teaches piano and music theory at the Santa Fe Community College and privately. |
