Katarzyna
(Kasia) Sokol, a native of
Poland came to the US to study at on a
full scholarship the Interlochen Arts Academy in 1994. She then
continued her
studies a Western Michigan University where she received her Bachelor
of Music
degree. She also holds a Master of Music degree from Northwestern
University
and Doctorate degree from Indiana University with minors in Music
History and
String Pedagogy. Ms. Sokol had studied with such prominent artists as
Miriam
Fried, Menahem Pressler, and Almita Vamos. She performs solo and
chamber music
concerts in the US as well as in Europe. Ms. Sokol is an Assistant
Professor at
the FLC where she teaches violin and viola. She is also the Director
and a
Conductor of the Durango Youth Symphony and a concertmaster of the San
Juan
Symphony. In her spare time, Ms. Sokol bakes bread, hikes and runs.
