Julie Norem-Hawley has been a resident of Taos since 1979 and is a co-owner of Taos Herb Company. In 1996, she spotted a folk harp at the local craft fair and "fell in love." She is a student of Rosalind Simpson, and has performed with the High Desert Harp Ensemble in Santa Fe. During the last Taos Dance Festival, she collaborated with choreographer Gail Gilbert, in a live performance piece named The Harpist.  The piece included Julie's original music. Julie and Gail collaborated again in October of 2002 with a second original, recorded score.  The dance, entitled Reigning Hearts, premiered at New Jersey's Rutgers University. Moving People Dance Theater performed this modern dance piece again at the Lensic Theater in 2003, under Gail's artistic direction.  Julie recorded the score with local musician, Will Yoder. They are currently finishing a CD of original music.
